Allegro Pianos is your authorized dealer for Brodmann pianos.
Brodmann pianos represent a different approach for pianos coming from the orient, and a surprising value.
It is perhaps the first attempt to build a more musical piano in a region of the world
dominated by makers that are known for mass production and lower prices rather than high quality manufacturing.
Brodmann pianos were a project considered and thought of by Bosendorfer pianos in the 1990’s. As Steinway introduced to the world a mass produced instrument, built by Kawai in Japan, and sold at Steinway dealerships under the name Boston, the highly regarded Vienese Bosendorfer piano company was considering an instrument that would beat the Boston’s performance at but a more affordable price, in order to provide a higher value and to successfully to compete in the same market segment.
Eventually, the Brodmann project did not come to life as a part of Bosendorfer, however, as some of Bosendorfer’s executives, including the former Bosendorfer CEO separated from the company, they took the project with them and brought it to life.
The decision was to have a design of a performance piano, built as a traditional hand crafted instrument, and using good quality parts…but producing it in China, where labor costs are much lower.
The result was the Brodmann professional edition series.
Most outsourced products attempt to make a less expensive instrument, design and build it as a mass produced piano.
Often, these pianos get the more known name of the company, and the consumer pays for this name recognition even though the instruments are designed to save costs, use different parts and materials, and built in different factories than the association with the "mother company" or direct use of its name would suggest. It is a confusing and often frustrating market to the consumer who is left out to sort between the different levels of instruments bearing the same name.
However, unlike the vast majority of instruments made in China, Brodmann pianos do not aim to make tens of thousands pianos, at least with the model 187, which appears to perform leaps and bounds above its peers.
The company to produces only a few hundred of these instruments yearly, and the combination of longer time spent on each piano, yet lower cost of the work, provide a surprisingly musical instrument at an extremely affordable price…even lower than the equivalent size mass produced pianos coming from Japan.
Please come and experience Brodmann pianos, and be pleasantly surprised by the instruments and their value, as well as by our standards of preparation, service and upgrading possibilities.
